Biography
James Arthur was born in 1988 in Middlesbrough, England. Achieved prominence in 2012 as the winner of the ninth season of The X Factor.
Following his victory, he released his debut single, a cover of Shontelle's "Impossible," through Syco Music.
The song immediately topped the UK Singles Chart and has since sold over 2.5 million copies globally, making it the most commercially successful winner's single in the show's history.
After a brief departure from Syco Music, he re-signed with the label in 2016 and released his second album, Back from the Edge.
Its lead single, "Say You Won't Let Go," reached number one and sold nearly 2.7 million copies. Back from the Edge also debuted at number one. His third album, You, was released in 2019 and peaked at number two. In 2021, Arthur signed with Columbia Records UK and Germany.
