Biography

Marina is a Welsh singer-songwriter known for her conceptual albums and genre-blending pop, rising to fame with her debut The Family Jewels in 2010.

Born Marina Diamandis in Wales, she moved to London to pursue music despite minimal training. Her early breakthrough came in 2010 via BBC’s Sound of 2010 poll. That same year, she released The Family Jewels, a gold-certified album mixing indie pop and new wave.

Her second album, Electra Heart (2012), marked a stylistic shift to electropop and dance-pop. It became her first UK number-one and featured hits like “Primadonna” and “How to Be a Heartbreaker.” It also earned gold certifications in both the UK and US.

With Froot (2015), Marina took on Europop influences and gained her first US top 10 album. In 2018, she returned to the charts with the UK top-20 Clean Bandit collaboration “Baby”. Her next project, Love + Fear (2019), reached number five in the UK.

In 2021, she released her fifth album, Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land, peaking at number 17 and later expanded with a deluxe version. Known for her poetic lyrics and reinvention, Marina continues to evolve across sound and persona.
