Mark Duane Morton, born November 25, 1972, is an American guitarist, best known as the lead guitarist and a founding member of the groove metal band Lamb of God.
In December 2018, Morton announced his debut solo album Anesthetic, which was released on March 1, 2019.
The album's single, "The Truth Is Dead," features Randy Blythe from Lamb of God and Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy. The album also includes a posthumous collaboration with Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, with the track "Cross Off" released as the second single in January 2019.
Morton’s memoir, Desolation: A Heavy Metal Memoir, was published on June 25, 2024. It explores his personal struggles with addiction, grief, and the music industry. Writing the memoir provided Morton with an opportunity for therapeutic reflection on his life and career.
