Biography

Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini (born October 21, 1995), known professionally as Doja Cat, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer from Calabasas, California.

Her stage name comes from the slang term “doja,” meaning marijuana, and her love of cats. She began posting music on SoundCloud in 2013 and was discovered by Dr. Luke, signing with Kemosabe Records.

Doja released her first EP, Purrr!, in 2014, featuring the popular track "So High." In March 2018, she dropped her debut album Amala, which included the hit "Candy." The following year, her viral video for "MOOO!" gained major attention, leading to a re-release of Amala with added tracks like "Juicy."

In 2019, Doja Cat released her second album, Hot Pink, which helped cement her place in the industry. The next year, she collaborated with Nicki Minaj on the "Say So (Remix)," which topped the Billboard Hot 100.

Her third studio album, Planet Her, was released in June 2021, preceded by the successful singles "Kiss Me More" featuring SZA and "Need to Know."
