Biography
Brandi Carlile, born June 1, 1981, is an American singer-songwriter and producer blending folk-rock, country, and classic rock.
Her talent has been recognized with 11 Grammy Awards and 2 Emmys, plus an Oscar nomination.
Carlile, from Ravensdale, Washington, left school for a music career. She has seven studio albums, the first, "Brandi Carlile" (2005), acclaimed by critics. Her single "The Story" (2007) brought her wide fame.
She won three Grammys for her work on Tanya Tucker's "While I'm Livin'" (2019). At the 61st Grammys, Carlile was the most-nominated woman, with six nominations, including Album and Song of the Year.
In 2019, she formed the all-female quartet "The Highwomen" with Amanda Shires, Maren Morris, and Natalie Hemby. Their debut album won a Grammy for Best Country Song "Crowded Table" in 2021.
Carlile also has two Emmys, including for the children's program "We the People" (2022) and the song for preschool program "Jam Van" (2023). In 2025, she was nominated for an Oscar for the song "Never Too Late" with Elton John.
