Biography
Bon Iver is the Grammy-winning indie folk band founded by Justin Vernon, known for its ethereal soundscapes and deeply emotional songwriting.
Initially a solo project born in isolation during a harsh Wisconsin winter, Bon Iver’s debut For Emma, Forever Ago (2007) captivated audiences with its raw intimacy. The album was mostly recorded in a remote cabin and quickly gained critical acclaim.
Their 2011 self-titled follow-up earned two Grammy Awards, including Best Alternative Music Album. Bon Iver evolved into a full band, expanding its sonic palette while retaining Vernon’s haunting vocals and poetic lyricism.
With 2016’s experimental 22, A Million and 2019’s reflective i,i, the group pushed boundaries of genre and form, embracing glitchy electronics, brass, and abstract textures. Both records received widespread praise for their innovation.
Their fifth album, Sable, Fable (2025), continues that evolution, blending folk roots with ambient complexity. Bon Iver remains a singular force in modern music, fusing vulnerability and experimentation in profound ways.
