Big Sean, born Sean Michael Leonard Anderson on March 25, 1988, is an American rapper who rose to fame under Kanye West's GOOD Music label.
He gained attention with his 2010 mixtape Finally Famous Vol. 3: Big before releasing his debut album Finally Famous (2011), featuring hits like "My Last" and "Dance (Ass)." His next albums, Hall of Fame (2013) and Dark Sky Paradise (2015), solidified his success, with the latter debuting at No. 1 and producing the hit "I Don't F*** with You."
His later projects, I Decided (2017) and Detroit 2 (2020), also topped the Billboard 200, with singles such as "Bounce Back" becoming major successes. In 2021, he parted ways with GOOD Music. His 2024 album, Better Me Than You, received mixed reviews.
Raised in Detroit, Sean began his career freestyling on a local radio station, eventually impressing Kanye West. He signed with GOOD Music in 2007, drawing inspiration from artists like Eminem and J Dilla.
Over the years, Big Sean has collaborated with artists such as Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Jhené Aiko, with whom he also formed the duo Twenty88. His philanthropy includes contributions to Detroit schools and the Flint water crisis.
