Skunk Anansie is a British rock band known for its powerful sound and dynamic live performances, led by iconic frontwoman Skin.
Formed in London in 1994, the band quickly rose to prominence with their politically charged lyrics and genre-defying blend of punk, rock, and alternative influences. Their debut album Paranoid & Sunburnt (1995) set the tone, followed by Stoosh (1996) and Post Orgasmic Chill (1999), all receiving critical acclaim and chart success.
Skunk Anansie disbanded in 2001 but reunited in 2009, releasing the compilation Smashes and Trashes, along with new material and a European tour. Since then, they've delivered three more studio albums: Wonderlustre (2010), Black Traffic (2012), and Anarchytecture (2016), cementing their place as a formidable force in modern rock.
The band has shared stages with acts like U2, Rammstein, and Lenny Kravitz, headlined Glastonbury in 1999, and remained active on the global festival circuit. Their live shows are celebrated for Skin’s commanding presence and their socially conscious themes.
In 2019, they marked 25 years with a live album and tour. With over 5 million records sold and numerous awards, including a Kerrang! Hall of Fame honor, Skunk Anansie continues to evolve—most recently announcing their seventh album The Painful Truth, set for release in May 2025.
