Lana Del Rey is an American singer-songwriter known for her cinematic, melancholic style that draws on themes of romance, tragedy, and vintage Americana.
Born Elizabeth Grant in 1985 in New York, she began writing music after learning guitar in her teens. Battling early struggles with addiction, she found stability through songwriting and later studied philosophy at Fordham University. Her stage debut came in the Brooklyn underground scene before her 2011 viral hit “Video Games” launched her to fame.
Her breakthrough album Born to Die (2012) delivered global success, followed by acclaimed records like Ultraviolence (2014), Norman Fucking Rockwell! (2019), and Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd (2023).
