Sir Elton John, born Reginald Kenneth Dwight on March 25, 1947, is a legendary British musician, known for his singing, songwriting, and piano skills.
His partnership with Bernie Taupin is one of the most successful in music history.
John started playing piano early and won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music. In 1967, he left the band Bluesology to pursue a solo career and began collaborating with Taupin, writing hits like "Your Song."
During the 1970s, he released multiple chart-topping albums such as "Honky Château" and "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road." His success continued into the 1980s and 1990s, and he also composed music for movies and musicals like "The Lion King."
John has sold over 300 million records worldwide and won numerous awards, including Grammys, an Oscar, and a Tony. His tribute song "Candle in the Wind" became the best-selling single ever.
In addition to music, he is a major philanthropist, founding the Elton John AIDS Foundation in 1992. His Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour became one of the highest-grossing tours in history.
