Biography
Cody Jinks is an American outlaw country singer and songwriter, born on August 18, 1980, in Haltom City, Texas. His 2016 album I'm Not the Devil reached No. 4 on the Billboard Country Albums chart, while other works like Lifers and After the Fire hit No. 2.
Jinks grew up in Texas and began playing guitar at 16. Before country music, he was the lead singer of the thrash metal band Unchecked Aggression, formed in 1998. The band disbanded in 2003, and Jinks shifted to country music around 2005.
After starting his solo career in 2008, he released 30 in 2012. His 2013 EP Blacksheep helped shape his signature country sound, eventually leading to his breakthrough in the genre.
His 2015 album Adobe Sessions charted on Billboard, and Jinks toured with Sturgill Simpson. In 2016, I'm Not the Devil received critical acclaim, and it peaked at No. 4 on the country charts, solidifying his place in the genre.
In 2018, Jinks released Lifers, followed by After the Fire and The Wanting in 2019. Both albums topped iTunes and Apple Music, showcasing his strong independent presence in the country scene.
