Willie Nelson is an American country legend whose rebel spirit shaped the outlaw country movement and redefined Nashville’s sound in the 1970s.
Born in 1933, he began writing songs at seven and gigging locally by ten. After early struggles, he found success as a songwriter with hits like “Crazy” and “Hello Walls,” eventually landing his first major label deal in the 1960s.
Nelson’s shift to outlaw country came in the early '70s with Shotgun Willie and Red Headed Stranger, the latter propelling him to stardom. He also joined The Highwaymen, alongside Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings, cementing his place in country music history.
