Biography
The Marías is a bilingual indie pop band from LA blending jazz, funk, and Latin rhythms, led by vocalist María Zardoya and producer/drummer Josh Conway.
Formed in 2016 after María and Josh met at a Los Angeles venue, they soon teamed up with guitarist Jesse Perlman and keyboardist Edward James to round out the band. Their early work included two EPs, Superclean Vol. I and Vol. II, which helped define their dreamy, genre-bending sound.
In 2021, their single "Hush" topped the Billboard Adult Alternative chart, followed by their Grammy-nominated debut album Cinema. They also toured with Halsey and worked with artists like Bad Bunny and Cuco.
Their second studio album Submarine was released in 2024, preceded by singles like “Run Your Mouth” and “Lejos de Ti.” The project continued their blend of English and Spanish songwriting.
Influenced by artists from Selena to Radiohead, The Marías fuse romantic vocals with lush, cinematic production, becoming one of indie pop’s most distinctive acts.
