Biography

Tems, born June 11, 1995, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer who gained recognition with her feature on Wizkid’s 2020 hit “Essence.”

She released two EPs, For Broken Ears (2020) and If Orange Was a Place (2021), before achieving a Billboard Hot 100 number-one hit with Future’s “Wait for U” (2022), making her the first African artist to debut at the top of the chart.

She later contributed to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with a cover of No Woman, No Cry and co-wrote Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up,” earning multiple award nominations.

In 2024, she released her debut album, Born in the Wild, and embarked on a world tour. At the 67th Grammy Awards, she won Best African Music Performance for “Love Me JeJe,” becoming the first Nigerian artist with multiple Grammys.

Tems has also won awards from Billboard, NAACP, BET, and Soul Train.
