Biography

NEEDTOBREATHE is an American rock band from Seneca, South Carolina, known for blending Christian themes with mainstream success.

The band consists of Bear Rinehart (vocals, guitar, piano), Seth Bolt (bass, backing vocals), Josh Lovelace (keys, backing vocals), Randall Harris (drums), and Tyler Burkum (guitar).

Formed in 1998 by brothers Bear and Bo Rinehart, the band signed with Atlantic Records in 2005. Their early albums, including Daylight (2006) and The Heat (2007), established their presence in the Christian rock scene. Breakout success came with The Outsiders (2009) and The Reckoning (2011), leading to tours with Taylor Swift and charting singles like "Washed by the Water" and "Brother."

The band’s Rivers in the Wasteland (2014) debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, featuring the Grammy-nominated "Multiplied." Their 2016 album HARD LOVE peaked at No. 2, and in 2017, they opened the NEEDTOBREATHE OneWorld Health Center in Nicaragua.

After Bo Rinehart’s departure in 2020, the band released Out of Body and Into the Mystery (2021), featuring collaborations with Carrie Underwood and Jon Foreman. Their latest album, Caves (2023), includes features from Carly Pearce and Old Dominion.

With multiple No. 1 albums and crossover success, NEEDTOBREATHE remains a defining force in modern rock.
